Schexnayder “Lena” Michelle Bio

Lena was born and raised in New Orleans LA. Lena is the oldest sister of six siblings and since a child, she has been outspoken, determined, and optimistic. Lena’s favorite color is yellow and her favorite food is Nachos. She loves reading and doing arts and crafts.

She always had dreams of becoming a business woman, lawyer, and had a passion to service others. Lena Schexnayder is classified as a U.S. Army Veteran. She dedicated a total of nine years of her life to the U.S. Army. She served in Active Duty, October- 2001 until August -2004 and the MS National Guard from January 2009- January 2015. She fought in Operation Iraq Freedom. . Her military assignment was a Human Resources Specialist in which she was responsible for the development and management of other soldier’s careers and their overall well-being in the Army. Knowing and understanding how each army regulation applied to each soldier’s case was essential to her performing these duties. She excelled well with understanding army regulations and using it to advocate for the best interest of each soldier’s career, that her battle buddies nicked named her the barracks lawyer. She received special awards such as Good Conduct Medal, Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, and Global War on Terrorism.

Lena graduated from the University Of Southern Mississippi with a BA in History and a minor in Business Administration in the year of 2014. She was a member of the University of Southern Mississippi Speech and Debate Team and she volunteered with The Fourth World Movement Non-Profit organization to combat poverty and hunger around the world. She also volunteered for Hattiesburg MS Municipal Court an assisted the public defender. Additionally, she volunteered for Habitat for Humanity building ramps for the elderly to ensure their safety. She has volunteered for Night Out Against Crime event every year for Hattiesburg, MS. She is currently a volunteer for Blue Jay’s Learning Inc, a non-profit organization that provides learning and tutoring to children located in under privilege areas in Hattiesburg, MS and surrounding areas.

Lena enjoys raising her 16 year old daughter. She enjoys spending time with family and friends at kickbacks and barbeques. She loves cooking, dancing, listening to music and is a hug New Orleans Saints fan. She loves traveling and outdoor recreation. She also enjoys eating sunflower seeds and midday naps.

Lena has worked many fields that has developed her customer service and entrepreneur skills. Thus, getting the opportunity to assit Military Veterans’ and their familes coping with Post Traumati- Stress Disorder (PTSD) due to combat, military training, and military sexual trauma through Zen Gab LLC and Zen Gab Foundation is honor and life long passion to serve those whom she has served with.
